Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is a protected area in Tanzania's Arusha and Manyara Regions. Spread across an area of around 325 square kilometers, it is situated between Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley. The park is home to several different natural habitats, including groundwater forests, acacia woodland, and open grassy plains.

One of the most famous features of Lake Manyara National Park is the large number of flamingos that can be found around the lake during certain times of the year. The park is also home to over 400 species of birds, including raptors, water birds, and songbirds. Among the animals that can be spotted in the park are elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, baboons, and several species of primates like vervet monkeys and blue monkeys.

Visitors to Lake Manyara National Park can enjoy a range of activities such as game drives, birdwatching, guided walks, and hot air balloon rides. The park is open year-round, but the best time to visit is during the dry season from June to September when wildlife viewing is at its best.

Lake Manyara National Park is best visited during the dry season, which typically runs from June to September. During this time, the vegetation is less dense, making it easier to spot wildlife as they gather around water sources. The dry season also coincides with the Great Wildebeest Migration, so there is a chance to witness this incredible spectacle if timing aligns.
